Veneers vs. Orthodontic treatment and Teeth Whitening

Our first option for all patients is to do the least possible.  We often talk through having your teeth brightened and straighten to achieve a great look with our having to cut your teeth. We can achieve wonderful results that have a lower cost of care and replacements over time. Once you place a veneer you are committed to changing the veneer every 10-12 years.

Veneers

Porcelain veneers are indirect, laboratory-made facings for your teeth. They are usually very thin and are used to enhance the appearance of a misshapen tooth, close a gap between two teeth or hide a stubborn internal stain.

Porcelain veneers can give your smile an amazing improvement, and can last over 10 years, but only when maintained properly with regular preventative care. They do involve reducing some of your natural tooth and are irreversible.

Composite resin veneers vs porcelain veneers 

At The Dentist, when we want to avoid reducing your natural tooth structure, we may suggest direct, composite resin veneers. These can be placed by our dentists in one visit and can be non-invasive.

The appearance of composite resin veneers can often match that of porcelain veneers; however, their lifespan doesn’t. They last around 5 to 7 years when maintained properly.
