Improve your teeth alignment without braces
If you’ve already had braces as a teenager or were always told you didn’t need them, yet you have slightly misaligned or crowded teeth, the Invisalign orthodontic aligner system may be suitable for you. Designed to discreetly and comfortably straighten your teeth, they have become one of the most popular orthodontic treatments.
So if you were looking into the different forms of cosmetic dentistry to fix misaligned teeth and want to get the perfect smile without the need for braces, you should consider Invisalign. can contact us today to book an initial consultation to find out if Invisalign is the right option for you.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign uses cutting-edge 3D computer-imaging technology to create a series of clear, removable, plastic aligners that are custom-made for your teeth. They are basically like a clear brace, virtually invisible so almost impossible to tell you’re wearing it.
They take the current position and final straightened position of your teeth, to map out a treatment plan that gradually aligns your teeth. Your teeth move to fit into the invisible aligners without any tightness. When this happens, a new set of tight-fitting trays are made, which then move your teeth a little more, and so on until your teeth are straight.
What are the benefits of Invisalign treatment?
Invisalign is the best way to straighten teeth without using traditional braces. They also offer a number of benefits over metal braces:
- Invisalign aligners are smooth and much more comfortable than conventional braces
- You can remove your aligners at any time if you need to eat or drink
- Invisalign are nearly invisible so people can barely tell you’re wearing them
What conditions can Invisalign treat?
Invisalign can help treat a wide range of orthodontic issues. Some of the conditions you can fix using Invisalign include:
- Gaps in your teeth
- Teeth crowding
- Crooked teeth
- Overbite
- Open bite
- Crossbite
- Underbite
- Overlapping teeth
- Unbalanced bite
Am I the right candidate for Invisalign?
At The Dentist at 70 Pitt Street, we choose Invisalign to treat minor crowding and teeth that may have already had orthodontic treatment but have experienced a minor relapse. It’s important to understand the strengths and limitations of this treatment before going ahead. Don’t worry, if Invisalign with us isn’t suitable for you, we’ll refer you to the best specialist Orthodontist we know, who will be able to help.
The Invisalign treatment process
If it’s decided that Invisalign is right for you and you decide to go ahead with treatment, this is what you can expect:
Consultation
At your first appointment, we will examine your teeth and discuss your options. If it turns out that Invisalign isn’t suitable for you, we’ll talk you through all of your other treatment options. If you are a candidate for Invisalign, we will talk you through all of the details of the treatment and you can ask any questions you may have.
Scanning
The scanning process may happen at your initial consultation if there’s time, otherwise, it will be carried out as a separate appointment. A digital scan, photographs, and x-rays are used to create a model of your mouth and teeth. These are sent to the Invisalign laboratory for your custom aligners to be created.
Treatment Plan
We will show you the digital plan of your teeth being aligned. If you would like to progress them we will have the aligners custom made for you.
Fitting
Once your clear aligners are ready, you’ll be notified to pick them up from the clinic. We’ll check that they fit properly and talk you through all of the necessary aftercare needed to ensure you achieve the best possible results.
Follow Up Appointments
Typically patients will need to change to a new set of aligners approximately every 2 weeks. Each new set of trays is slightly altered, which allows the aligners to slowly move your teeth into the desired position.
